Adoption Inquiries

Attention: The first step towards adopting is to submit an Adoption Application. Most all of your adoption questions can be answered by reading the Adoption Policies and Procedures prior to submitting your application.

Re-Homing Your Pet

Thank you for contacting Chihuahua Rescue of Georgia about re-homing your pet. We are a licensed, non-profit, no-kill rescue group that specializes in the rescue and placement of Chihuahuas and mixes. We provide our rescue dogs with quality nutrition, veterinary care, private foster care, and basic obedience training prior to adoption. We ensure careful placement of our rescue dogs into new, lifelong homes based on their individual needs.

For your pet to be considered for entry into our rescue program, the pet must meet the following basic requirements:

  • Chihuahua breed or chihuahua mix - you will need to send us a picture of your pet.
  • < 7 years of age and under 12lbs - we can not accept any senior dogs at this time.
  • fully vetted (vaccinated within the past year, heart worm tested and on heart worm prevention, spayed or neutered, and recent dental cleaning if necessary) - if your pet is not fully vetted, then a $100 donation is required.
  • friendly with adults and other small pets - if your pet has a behavioral problem, or a bite history, we can not take in your pet.

If your pet does not meet these requirements, you may wish to seek placement of your pet elsewhere. We recommend visiting www.spotsociety.org for information on how to safely re-home your pet.

Please be advised that we have a waiting list for animals waiting to enter our program and all animals entering the program must be approved by the Director.
